Star, Veterinary Assistant/Client Care Specialist
Star has been a part of our team since October 2010. She came through our clinic while she was enrolled in the Chesapeake College Veterinary Assistant Program. While fulfilling her practicum hours we noticed how friendly and naturally nurturing she was to all of our patients and so we had to have her join us! Star enjoys the individual personalized care that we have for each and every animal that we care for here at the clinic. She has over ten years of experience running her private sheep farm with her husband and daughter. When Star is not at work loving on all of our clients and carrying on friendly conversations with the owners she enjoys cheering on her daughter while she plays lacrosse, camping, swimming and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ashley, Veterinary Assistant/Client Care Specialist
Ashley joined our team November, 2011. We met Ashley while she was fulfilling her practicum hours for the Veterinary Assistant Program at Chesapeake College. She got along very well with all the ladies here and jumped right in when help was needed so we offered her a job. Ashley loves the idea that we work closely with the local animal shelters and rescues in a group effort to battle the pet overpopulation. Ashley has always had a passion for animals ever since she was young. She states that animals have brought her joy and have helped her cope with life a little better. While Ashley is away from work she spends her time with her family and friends, attending car shows with her husband, reading and doing crafts. Her plans for the future are to finish her Business Management Degree at Chesapeake College and someday manage a veterinary clinic or a rescue.
Jennifer, Client Care Specialist
Jennifer has been greeting our patients and their humans since April 2012. Jennifer was a client of ours prior to being employed at the clinic. She liked our mission to fight the homeless pet overpopulation and wanted to be a part of our team. We really enjoyed her warm demeanor and skills that she had with smaller breed dogs and knew that she would be a perfect fit! Jennifer likes meeting our new clients and building relationships with them and their animals. She enjoys giving back to our community by volunteering at Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne's County. During her spare time Jennifer likes to spend time with her husband doing various activities such as biking, crafting and traveling. Her goals for her future are to purchase her first home with her husband, settled down and start a family.
Erica, Veterinary Assistant/Client Care Specialist
Erica came on board in January 2014. She enjoys the fact that everyday she is able to be around animals and that she gets to meet new people while working.. Erica has always had animals growing up so she was a natural when it came to handling our client's pets. She has gained experience over the last couple years by fostering kittens through the local rescues and shelters. While Erica is not at Spay Now she likes to go to the beach and spend time with her niece, nephew, family and friends. She is also a foodie! Erica's plans for her future are to start attending college to obtain a degree in Veterinary Science.
Annie, Veterinary Assistant
We recruited Annie in May 2014 while she was completing her practicum hours for the Veterinary Assistant Program through Chesapeake College. Annie was very upbeat, team oriented, didn't mind getting her hands dirty and that was just what we were looking for! She really likes being able to comfort our patients when they are in need of affection while they are here at the clinic. Prior to working with us, Annie has volunteered for years at several of the local shelters and rescues in Queen Anne's County. She truly has a knack for bottle feeding orphaned kittens. In her free time Annie keeps herself busy fostering animals and making memories with her family and loved ones. She plans to continue taking classes through Penn Foster and furthering her education to eventually become a licensed Veterinary Technician.
Shelby, Veterinary Assistant
Shelby joined our Spay Now family during April of 2015. Shelby attended University of Delaware and graduated in 2013. She brings a lot to the table with her previous experience from AAVEC and volunteer work through the SPCA. Shelby has worked at AAVEC as a veterinary assistant for two years and is continuing to work their part time. Her bright personality has helped comfort many animals that have walked into our clinic. Shelby's favorite aspect about being a veterinary assistant at Spay Now is being able to work with the local rescues and help animals in need. When Shelby isn't caring for other's pets here at Spay Now or at AAVEC she enjoys spending time with her dogs, family and friends. Shelby plans on furthering her education and becoming a dentist.
